Each year, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation hosts a walk to raise money for Type 1 Diabetes research. On the morning of November 7th, the 5K walk began at the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion, where more than 8,000 came to participate. The day was filled with food, games, and a Patty Loveless concert to entertain the walkers as they spent the day among other supporters of the cause.

Knightdale High School played a part in fundraising. Students donated over $1,000 to the cause, and their generosity is posted on the wall of the cafeteria. Hundreds of paper sneakers represent those who gave more than seventy-five cents to JDRF. Although Knightdale High’s contribution seems small compared to the nearly $1,000,000 raised the weekend of the walk, there is no doubt that the donation will help bring researchers one step further down the road to a cure.
